The Pour Over Method: Why It's Gaining Popularity Among Coffee Lovers
In recent years, the pour over method of coffee brewing has gained popularity for several reasons. This manual brewing method allows the brewer to control variables such as water temperature, water flow, brew time, and grind size, which all affect the flavor and taste of your cup of brew. Pour overs also tend to result in a cleaner cup of coffee since there is less contact between the grounds and the water. How to Make a Pour Over:
- Start by heating your water to just below boiling. Too much heat will scald the coffee grounds and produce a bitter brew.
- Place your filter in the pour over cone and wet it with hot water to rinse off any paper flavor.
- Add your coffee grounds to the filter and give it a light shake so that they are evenly distributed.
- Slowly pour hot water over the grounds, starting in the center and spiraling outwards. Be sure not to pour too quickly or else the water will run through the grounds without fully extracting all of the flavor.
- Once all of the water has been added, allow the coffee to drip into your mug or carafe.
- Give it a quick stir and enjoy!
